Lynn Stevens, artistic director, conductor and co-founder of the
Sacramento Children’s Chorus, has more than thirty years
experience in teaching choral music to children. Ms. Stevens
received a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of
Southern California, and a Master of Music in Choral Conducting
from California State University, Sacramento. It was during her
masters program that Ms. Stevens co-founded the Sacramento
Children’s Chorus with Dr. Donald Kendrick, 18 years ago.
Julie Adams, director of Cantate, is an accomplished conductor
with a passion for using music to make a positive difference in
our communities. Equally comfortable with classical and jazz
styles, children and adults, Ms. Adams has conducted and
performed with large choral ensembles, chamber choirs and jazz
ensembles throughout her career. She received her Bachelor of
Music in Choral/Vocal Music from California State University,
Long Beach in 1985 and a Master of Music in Choral Conducting
from California State University, Sacramento in 1996.
Helen Mendenhall, principal accompanist, has been with SCC since
the year after its founding. Ms. Mendenhall performs frequently
as a soloist, and is a sought after accompanist at the piano,
organ and continuo for a wide variety of soloists and ensembles.
She received a Bachelor of Science in Music from George Fox
University and a Master of Arts from California State University,
Chico.
Jennifer Reason, accompanist for Cantus, earned her Bachelor of
Music degree in Piano Performance from California State
University, Sacramento in 2007. Jennifer has been playing
professionally for 15 years and has appeared in solo and ensemble
performances across Europe, the United States, and Canada.
Jennifer also works extensively in the field of collaborative
piano and has held Staff Accompanist positions at California
State University Sacramento, Cosumnes River College, and
Sacramento City College, as well as at multiple churches
throughout Northern California.
With the help of his mentors and teachers, David Saul Lee started
his professional career as a sophomore in high school. A
self-taught pianist for 15 years, He is now becoming a well-known
performer and teacher in the area. He has been the accompanist
for the Sheldon High School Choral Department for the past 4
years. At Smedberg Middle School, David has been the accompanist
for the past 2 years.
