Come join us for our Holiday Concert, “Lights of the World” on December 9, 2018 at 4pm, in the beautiful sanctuary of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Our exciting and vibrant program will explore choral classics and modern arrangements of some favorite holiday songs. Audience favorites include The Colors of Christmas by John Rutter, Glow by Eric Whitacre, and traditional songs like Holly and the Ivy and Peace Peace (Silent Night).
Music Makers is a 8 week workshop designed to provide young children with their “first experience in singing”. Kindergarten through young second grade age children receive an introduction to and possibly their first exposure to music.
Mondays – January 28 – March 25 (February 18 – no class)
4:30pm – 5:20pm
Mosaic Law Congregration 2300 Sierra Blvd.
Class includes activities and games that include singing, rhythm, and movement using a curriculum based on the Kodaly model. This teaching method incorporates singing games, movement, playing instruments, and sharing each student’s unique voice. Also, children are not required to audition and can simply focus on having fun, making friends and learning the wonders of music.
Today’s evidence shows that children who participate in music class at least once a week develop basic reading skills faster and tend to have higher math, science and critical thinking skills. Music classes develop listening skills and symbolic thinking, as well as a means of socialization.
