SCC is excited to announce newly hired artistic director, Alex Grambow. After conducting an extensive search for an artistic director, Mr. Grambow will kick off our 25th anniversary year. Before joining SCC, Mr. Grambow served as the choral director for Foothill High and Foothill Ranch middle school in the Twin Rivers Unified School District where he developed and grew a thriving choral program. Welcome to the SCC family!
Music Makers is a 8 week ensemble workshop designed to provide young children with their “first experience in singing”. First and second grade age children receive an introduction to and possibly their first exposure to music.
Communal singing games, dancing, instrument playing and storytelling are the tools through which pitch, rhythm, solfege, and composition will be taught. But, the main goal of Music Makers is to inspire a feeling for music that will be a source of positivity lifelong.
“The two most important things I learned from SCC were a sincere sense of musicianship, and an ability to sing with total vocal health. I found that because of SCC, when I started conservatory training I was lucky to be a singer with a sense of musical line, and an ability to connect to the song. This was paramount in my success as a young singer. I also found that I sang with a sense of vocal ease and health, and this was most certainly due to the vocally healthy and pure approach that Lynn Stevens brought to her teaching.”
