Music Makers – First Experiences in Music

Music Makers is a 8 week ensemble workshop designed to provide young children with their “first experience in singing”. First and second grade age children receive an introduction to and possibly their first exposure to music.

Communal singing games, dancing, instrument playing and storytelling are the tools through which pitch, rhythm, solfege, and composition will be taught. But, the main goal of Music Makers is to inspire a feeling for music that will be a source of positivity lifelong.

Days: Wednesday    Time: 4:30 to 5:20pm

Meagan Kilpatrick, accompanist for Cantabile and Cappella, has been with SCC since 2014.  She feels so fortunate to be a part of an organization which nurtures young people through their many developmental stages by offering them the opportunity to grow in musical excellence.  She also accompanies choirs at El Camino High School, and at Arden Middle School.  Meagan received her Bachelor’s degree from California State University, Sacramento, and her Master’s degree from New York University, both in Piano Performance.  She is on brief hiatus from teaching to be a full-time Mom, but has training in Suzuki Piano and in Waldorf Education.
